The  Hass avocado  or  Hass avocado  is a variety of the  Persea americana fruit , which originated from a Guatemalan seed in a Rudolph Hass orchard in La Habra, California in 1926 and in Mexico in the municipality of Tingambato, patented in 1935 and introduced globally to the market in 1960; It is the most cultivated variety worldwide. “Hass avocados” are one of the most common varieties of avocado on the market.

One of the main milestones in the industry of this variety during the last 20 years has been its predominance over the  Fuerte variety in the main countries that produce quality persea. The wide acceptance of Hass in almost all world markets has strengthened the demand for fruits with black and rough skins in relation to those with green and smooth skins. The preference for fruits with these characteristics has drastically changed the priorities for the genetic improvement of the  Persea americana and in fact many of the new green varieties have been rarely planted. One of the greatest virtues of Hass is its long harvest season, a factor that, together with its high quality, has increased world consumption.​
